Handicap Accessible Entrance
To utilize the handicap accessible entrance to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, the building should be approached from the north. If arriving by car, drive south on Avenida Maximo Gomez. Immediately past the Texaco gas station, there is a small driveway and vehicle gate. Although non-embassy vehicles may not enter through the gate, vehicles may stop there temporarily to allow handicapped passengers to disembark. From there, physically disabled visitors can easily enter the outdoor waiting area that leads to the main doors of the Consular Section. Approaching the building from any other direction or location will prove difficult, as safety pylons situated at the corner of Maximo Gomez and Cesar Nicolas Penson are too close together to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers.
