American Citizen Services August 5 Outreach Visit to Santiago

The American Citizen Services unit and the Federal Benefits Unit of the U. S. Embassy is pleased to announce our next visit to Santiago on August 5 from 10:00 am to 11:30 a.m..  This event will take place in the Dominican-American Cultural Center Library located at Avenida Estrella Sahahla #101.

As before, U.S. citizens in the area will have access, by appointment, to consular services that are normally available only in Santo Domingo.  U.S. citizens will be able to renew passports and complete notarials.  No first-time passport applications or applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad will be accepted.  These must be applied for in Santo Domingo.  Someone will also be available to answer questions about Social Security and other U.S. federal benefits.

All services are by appointment only.  To make an appointment for a passport renewal or notarial service visit http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/acs-e.html and go to Consular Outreach in Santiago.

When the passport schedule for the Santiago August 5 event is full, you will later be able to schedule online an appointment for the next Santiago visit on October 7.  U.S. citizens who have an appointment should arrive on time to ensure that their application can be accommodated before the consular team's scheduled departure.  Remember that you can always make an appointment to come to the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo if you have urgent travel needs.

To make an appointment with the Federal Benefits Unit for all Social Security related issues, call (809)731-4371 between 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday or send an email to FBU.santodomingo@ssa.gov.  You must have the social security number of the person who worked in the United States under which you are making the claim.

Many questions can be answered over the phone or on the Federal Benefits Unit website  at http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/federal_benefits-e.html
