Are There Volunteer Positions Available at the U.S. Embassy?

Consider volunteering some of your time to serve as a volunteer Warden for The U.S. Embassy's American Citizens' Services Unit.

To help us communicate with U.S. citizens, U.S. embassies worldwide rely on Wardens.  Wardens are volunteers who assist the U.S. Embassy's Consular Section in disaster preparedness by alerting U.S. citizens to emergency situations and passing on information.  The warden system provides a reliable way for the Consular Section to reach U.S. citizens in the event of an emergency, disaster or threat to American citizen health, safety or security.  In the last twelve months we have sent out messages related to a worldwide caution, hurricanes, crime, identity theft, political rallies, and a meeting for U.S. citizens with the Ambassador.  Wardens can respond to questions with verbatim information, reach out to U.S. citizens in need of Embassy assistance, and provide information  on breaking events to the American Citizens Services Unit so that we can relay first hand information to the State Department in a crisis.

The U.S. Embassy has no higher priority than the protection of U.S. citizens. We are always looking for new wardens, particularly in the southeastern and southwestern provinces.  Serving as a warden does not require a large amount of time, can be done from your home or office, and provides a valuable service to the American community.  U.S. citizenship is not always a requirement, but we do require a good working knowledge of English.   If you are interested in applying for a position, contact the American Citizens Services Unit by email at acssantodom@state.gov to learn more.
